Data protection information for applicants
With this data protection declaration, we inform you (hereinafter “applicant”) about the type, scope and purpose of the personal data processed by PACE Paparazzi Catering & Event GmbH (hereinafter also “we” or “us”) and your rights as a data subject in the context of the applicant search.
1. responsible person
PACE Paparazzi Catering & Event GmbH, Axel-Sprin-ger-Str. 65, 10888 Berlin, +49 30 2591 74828, karriere@pace.berlin is responsible for data processing in accordance with Art. 4 No. 7 GDPR, unless otherwise stated in this privacy policy.
Insofar as we use a service provider to place suitable candidates to fill positions advertised by us (hereinafter referred to as CONTRACTOR), please note that CONTRACTOR is responsible for the legality of the transmission and will inform the candidates in accordance with applicable law (in particular Art. 13, Art. 14 GDPR) as part of its data protection declaration (available at the following link).
2. personal data
2.1 Type of data processed
In particular, the following personal data of the applicant is collected and processed as part of the applicant search:
- Personal details (name, address, date and place of birth and nationality) and other (specified) contact details,
- Information on qualifications (e.g. certificates, assessments, training certificates, information on skills and talents from career portals),
- Professional experience, career (e.g. previous employers, current position with employer, type of tasks and responsibilities, length of employment).
2.2 Origin of the data
We only process applicant data that has been made public by the applicant or that can be viewed via publicly accessible sources or that the applicant provides to the CONTRACTOR for the purpose of placement, such as personal data
- on websites (e.g. portfolios, work samples, application pages),
- on relevant career networks (e.g. Xing or LinkedIn profiles),
- in articles or publications in digital or print media.
3. purpose and legal basis of the processing
The applicant’s personal data will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). In addition, the applicant’s personal data that AUFTRAGNEHMER transmits will be collected and processed exclusively for recruitment processes, insofar as this is necessary for the decision on or for the establishment of an employment contract with the applicant.
The following legal bases for processing apply:
3.1 Legitimate interest, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR
We process the applicant’s data, if necessary, to safeguard our legitimate interest in enabling and properly carrying out the selection of suitable applicants and their examination to fill advertised positions. Our legitimate interest exists in particular if the personal data is made public on the Internet and is not protected by separate privacy settings or if the applicant indicates through corresponding settings on relevant professionally oriented networks that the receipt of job offers is desired.
3.2 Consent, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR
We may also process the applicant’s personal data as part of the applicant search if the applicant has given CONTRACTOR consent to the transfer of the data to us. Consent given can be revoked at any time. It should be noted that the revocation is only effective for the future. Processing that took place before the revocation is not affected.
4. data transfer
We only transfer the applicant’s personal data received from CONTRACTOR to third parties if the transfer is necessary to enable and properly carry out the selection of suitable applicants to fill advertised positions, if we are otherwise legally entitled or obliged to pass on the data or if the applicant has given us appropriate consent. We will inform the applicant in advance who the recipients of the data are.
In order to provide our services, selected personal data may be disclosed to certain departments within our company. This includes employees who are responsible for finding applicants.
5. social media plugins
No social media plugins are integrated on this website that load data directly from the servers of the respective social media providers. The integrated “plugins” are simple links to the respective third-party sites, which we illustrate with corresponding graphics. A transfer of personal data to the operator of the social media service through the known plugins therefore does not take place.
6. data transfer to third countries
Data will only be transferred to third countries (countries outside the European Economic Area – EEA) with the consent of the applicant or if the standard contractual clauses have been concluded.
7. storage period
We only process personal data for as long as this is necessary for the respective application process in the context of which the CONTRACTOR has contacted the applicant. At the end of the application process (filling of the advertised position / signed employment contract), the applicant’s personal data will then be deleted by us, provided that there are no legal obligations to retain data or the applicant has not consented to their data continuing to be stored for possible future job advertisements (so-called consent to inclusion in the talent pool).
8. contact details and rights of the applicant
The applicant can contact our data protection officer at any time with questions and suggestions regarding data protection and the enforcement of rights as a data subject:

8.1 Information and correction
The applicant can obtain information from us at any time free of charge as to whether personal data relating to him/her is being processed by us and also specifically which data about him/her is being stored, as well as requesting a copy of the stored data. The applicant can also have incorrect data corrected and completed.
8.2 Deletion
The applicant may request the deletion and restriction of his/her personal data.
8.3 Data portability
Where applicable, the applicant also has the right to have the personal data concerning him or her transmitted to him or her or to another controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, provided that the processing is based on consent or on a contract and is carried out by automated means. However, this does not apply if the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. Furthermore, the applicant has the right to have the personal data transmitted directly from one controller to another, insofar as this is technically feasible and provided that this does not adversely affect the rights and freedoms of other persons.
8.4 Automated decision-making
We do not use automated processing to decide which of the applicants will be proposed to the employer with regard to the advertised job offer. Automated decision-making within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR therefore does not take place in the context of the applicant search.
8.5 Information and right to object
The applicant may revoke the consent(s) given at any time with effect for the future by contacting the above address. Furthermore, the applicant has the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to his or her particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning him or her which is based on a legitimate interest. In the event of an objection, we will no longer process personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the applicant or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
8.6 Right to lodge a complaint
Furthermore, the applicant has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority as well as the possibility of legal remedies. The supervisory authority to which the complaint has been submitted shall inform the complainant of the status and outcome of the complaint, including the possibility of a judicial remedy.
9. sanctions list check
To ensure that we comply with all trade control laws, anti-money laundering and/or anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and other legal requirements, we reserve the right to check your first and last name against the data on the publicly available and government-issued sanctions lists relevant to us. The comparison is carried out by a limited group of employees from the relevant HR department or Group Compliance who are generally bound to confidentiality. In the event of an initial match, we will use your other submitted data (e.g. date of birth, nationality, address) to check whether the match is actually correct. We may also contact you directly for this purpose to obtain further information. You can also contact compliance[at]axelspringer.com for further information.
